Between 1800 and 1805, whilst the Tunnel was being built, all goods were transshipped at Blisworth and Stoke Bruerne and carried over the hill by a dual track horse drawn tramway, designed by Benjamin Outram. The tramway was a total of about 5.6km long. Your can still follow the route of the Blisworth end along footpath on the western side of the canal from Grafton House to above the Tunnel entrance.
