A Blisworth Boy in Burma
Blisworth Heritage Society © 2020
The 15th August this year was the 75th anniversary of VJ day (Victory over Japan) The surrender of Imperial Japan was announced by Japanese Emperor Hirohito on 15 August and formally signed on 2 September 1945, bringing the hostilities of World War II to a close. The Heritage Society intended to commemorate VJ anniversary with a talk and presentation about one of a number of Blisworth lads who went to war to fight in the Far East and Burma. The talk was scheduled for our September meeting (11 Sept). After a lot of deliberation, we reluctantly decided that a ‘normal’ meeting was neither safe nor practical before next January, at the earliest. We will be in touch again with an update before the end of the year. We hope to commence meetings early in the New Year, when this year’s subscription will be carried forward. This talk and presentation will be held as soon as the situation allows for 'normal' meetings to be resumed and to do justice to the presentation.
